Coca-Cola: 100 years of iconic style

We know ‘100 years of iconic style’ is a pretty bold statement to make but it can take a long time for any company or product to get their branding right. Every few years or so, companies will opt for rebranding sometimes over and over again. Very few will actually create something that is essentially ‘ever lasting’, iconic, or will stick in consumers’ minds forever, like the coca-cola bottle.

Coca-Cola are one of the few brands to have perfected the art of ever lasting, like the Cadbury’s purple wrapper or the more recently the Apple symbol. This week the brand are celebrating 100 years of iconic style: with brand partnerships, an exhibition of 3D printed bottles, vintage ads and designers re-imagining the bottle.

Now, not all of this is exactly original to Coca-Cola. Over the years fashion houses and designers have had the opportunity to make their mark on the legendary contour bottle, including Marc Jacobs, Jean Paul Gautier and even, the head of Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld.

But what makes this different to other collaborations? Well in terms of amplification, more people are commenting. There has been a heavier focus in particuarly from lifestyle bloggers due to the brand partnership with Moleskine notebooks. The redesign of the classic black bound notebooks has made them even more of a must have and this is the strongest part of all conversations online.
