Lego TARDIS lands at Bondi Beach

To promote the upcoming Doctor Who Festival in Australia, a life sized TARDIS has landed at Bondi Beach, made entirely of Lego!

We love a bit of experiential activity, even on further shores. Similarly to the Fallout 4 release, this is a brilliant example of a brand partnership for promotion. This year, Lego released a long awaited Doctor Who collection so there is the likelyhood that this giant TARDIS is connected to the product launch as well.

Doctor Who Lego

Everyone know the TARDIS these days, even if they’re not a Doctor Who fan/ Whovian. It’s an activity that is not going to go unnoticed especially with the power of ‘fandoms’ online. Even not being in Australia, news of the stunt spread like wildfire on Tumblr and Twitter before we even noticed coverage in online publications such as the Radio Times. Over the past three days alone, tweets mentioning ‘Lego TARDIS’ have reached nearly 4 Million accounts. Yes, it’s not the biggest campaign in the world but things like this are not really going to go away any time soon. It’s pretty much guaranteed that people will be pinning pictures of the TARDIS for a while, wanting to create their own and even doing things like Throw Back Thursdays. Even if it fades into the ether after the initial excitement, I’m sure it’ll pop up on Reddit a few months down the line with people claiming it’s OC (original content) and spreading from there… just like a lot of things we see on the internet.

If we could do anything about it, we’d bring it to the UK… Maybe if we ask Lego very nicely they’ll bring us our own Lego TARDIS in time for the Christmas special. Maybe.

Are you as jealous of this as we are? Let us know what yo think and tweet us at @WolfBExp!
