The future is here with Pepsi Perfect

October 21st 2015, the year Marty McFly came to the future.

In 1989 Back to the Future II first hit the cinemas and to celebrate the re-release of the franchise on DVD, Pepsi Co have made it possible to buy an iconic piece of ‘the future’. Unfortunately it’s not a hoverboard, we’re still technically waiting for that one.

Pepsi Perfect can be yours for only $20. That’s right, $20 for a bottle of Pepsi… Although it’s still cheaper than the $50 Doc Brown gave Marty to buy one in the movie

Although it is clearly a ridiculous price (sorry Pepsi Co), fans worldwide have gone into a bit of a frenzy. #PepsiPerfect wasn’t exactly been the most trending topic recently, the ‘trailer’ has had over 1 million views and the hashtag has recieved over 4,000 mentions (an additional 19 in the past five minutes at the time of writing) and 247 upvotes on Reddit. That’s right, even Le Reddit Armie were talking about it.

The official Pepsi Facebook Page hasn’t mentioned this limited edition version but their Twitter account, on the other hand, is completely on brand for the campaign. On the experiential side of things, Pepsi Co gave away 200 bottles each day at New York Comic Con to people dressed as Marty McFly

Which then obviously led to a few funny responses… Oh internet.

Despite the pretty hefty price tag, this is one of my favourite launches of 2015 and I wish the Comic Con activity will be with us too so I can go and get my hands on one. Yes, I will CosPlay JUST for a bottle of Pepsi Perfect.
